Our hotel in Leon (Day 0)

Our hotel in Leon for day 0 was Hotel Real Colegiata San Isidoro. It is part of a complex that includes the church of San Isidoro which holds the relics of the saint and the pantheon of the king’s (called the Sistine Chapel of the Romanesque and holds the remains of 23 kings, queens, and nobility of the kingdom of Leon). You can actually see the entrance of the pantheon from one of the hotel courtyards.

In the lobby we meet some Americans. One was from Kentucky and the other from the Carolinas. Joey (from the Carolinas) was a super nice guy and gave us lots of good advice for the days to come. He keeps a blog at https://joecycles.wixsite.com/mysite/single-post/2017/06/11/on-to-Leon covering his bike journey.
